Samsung is planning 64-bit Galaxy Phones

Apple set the standards with the announcement a few days ago that the new iOS 7 update is designed specifically for the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C and more importantly it is based on 64-bit architecture, first for a mobile OS to be used by a major smartphone manufacturer. The processor will be able to handle code for more demanding applications, including high-end games.

Today we hear news from Samsung, the company that is at present the main rival to Apple that they are also planning to implement 64-bit processors in the next-generation Galaxy smartphone.

The announcement comes from an interview in the Korean Times by Samsung Mobile’s co-CEO Shin Jong-kyun cited by c-net. In the interview he talks mainly about Samsung’s plans to expand its business in China, the huge market that Apple is just entering with the new iPhone S and iPhone C.

“Samsung understands that Apple intends to boost its mobile business in China, as well as in Japan, meaning that we should try harder in these countries,”

Samsung’s mobile business chief Shin Jong-kyun said.

He also anounced the release date for the new Samsung Galaxy Note 3

[Samsung will hold a launch event for its latest Galaxy Note3 tablet in China. The Korean technology heavyweight is set to release the 5.7-inch device in 140 countries.

In the interview he did not mention exactly when and which models of the Galaxy line will have the 64-bit architecture.

The new and powerful 64-bit architecture brings the smartphones closer and closer to the day in which we will be using a small and powerful mobile device for all the computing tasks in our everyday life. The future of the mobile netizen is coming closer and closer.

Now we expect to see other major manufacturers to announce their plans for using the powerful 64-bit architecture. Maybe Microsoft and Nokia? We will see.

Apple event on September 10 for the iPhone 5S

Apple is expected to announce the new iPhone 5S on an event to be held on September 10. According to sources cited by AllThingsD this event comes at a time when Apple is making a lot of money from its more than a year old Smartphones, but is losing market share to the diverse launch of low-cost Android Smartphones that we see from Samsung, HTC, LG and other less known Chinese manufacturers.

At the rumored event we expect to see the new Apple flagship iPhone 5S said to have a better hardware, camera and likely a fingerprint sensor. Also, at the event we expect to see Apple announce a cheaper iPhone 5C for the emerging markets.

The iPhone 5S and the cheaper model iPhone 5C will come with the new and radically redesigned Apple iOS 7 software which was announced by Apple at the World Wide Developer Conference (WWDC) in June. The new Apple iOS7 is already available to developers who are testing it and will bring new and improved user-interface enhancements.

It is also expected that Apple will announce the new iPad. So far, Apple has not confirmed or denied any of the rumors.
