Google Nexus 7 built by ASUS arrives in Europe at the end of August

nexu7tab

Since the end of July, the new Google Nexus 7 built by ASUS is available online at the Google Play Store starting at $229.

The 7- inch tablet was announced about three weeks ago and is available for purchase on the official Google site as well in stores in the US, but not in Europe yet. The new Nexus 7 build by ASUS is the first entrant in the market playing  for the top spot of the 7 inch tablets this year. It has the power and price to win the hearts and pockets of the mobile warriors looking for a fast and light 7- inch device.

What makes the Nexus 7 so desirable is the power it packs, the HD display and of course the newest Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS.

The new Nexus 7 edition 2013 looks and feels very much like last year’s Nexus 7 except for a slight change in the orientation of the Nexus logo on the back that is horizontally placed. This indicates that users will be using it mostly in portrait mode. It is also 2.75 mm thinner and  slightly lighter than last year’s model.

The 7-inch tablet is packed with the power of the new 1.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, with Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM and a choice of 16GB or 32GB of storage.

The sharp and vivid Gorilla Glass covered 1920 x 1200 IPS LCD with 323 ppi display provides for full 1080p HD video watching. Additionally the new Nexus 7 supports Miracast, SlimPort, wireless charging, and NFC.

The front camera is 1.2MP and there is a 5MP camera in the back. Not the best option for great pictures or video, but at this price range these are more than acceptable.

It also comes with the latest Android 4.3 JellyBean and one of the tipping points is that this is a Google device and all the latest Android updates will come with this device the moment they are released.

The battery is only 3,950mAh, which is less than the 4,324mAh found in the original Nexus 7. This will give you about eight hours of usage.

The Nexus 7 (2013 model) is available on the Google Play Store. In the US it can be ordered from Best Buy and Staples. The 16GB model with WiFi costs $229. Moving to a 32GB model will cost $269 and adding LTE support will cost $349.

Although the Nexus 7 (2013 model) has been available for purchase to customers in Canada the US, there are no clear indications when it will be available in Europe. Google is saying that it will be releasing it in the coming weeks. Expectations are that we will see it in Europe at the end of August.

According to a press release sent to Android Authority by ASUS Starting Aug. 29, those residing in Italy will be able to get their hands on a 32GB Nexus 7 (2013) for 269 Euro, including VAT. As for the LTE model, you can expect that to arrive in September for a much higher price of 349 Euro.

It is expected that we will see the Nexus 7 (2013) released in the rest of Europe around the end of August.
